Morgan stood beneath the grand columns of the Toledo Museum of Art, waiting to see Mike on their wedding day.
It was one of those sweet, quiet moments where everything seemed to pause. The excitement of the morning, the movement of the schedule, and the anticipation of everything still to come all faded for a second as Mike turned around and saw Morgan as his bride.
And goodness, it was special.
For Morgan and Mike, this moment was more than just the beginning of their Toledo Zoo wedding day. It was the continuation of a story that started years ago. They met in junior high, started dating in high school, made it through long distance during college, and have spent the last eight years choosing each other again and again.
So seeing them together on their wedding day felt especially meaningful. They were not just excited to get married. They were best friends, finally stepping into the next chapter of a love story that so many of their friends and family have watched grow over the years.
Their day began at The Renaissance Hotel in downtown Toledo, where they each got ready in beautiful suites overlooking the river. The girls wore matching pajamas, the morning light poured through the glass windows, and the whole room was full of laughter, excitement, and the sweetest anticipation. Before seeing each other, Morgan and Mike also read letters they had written to one another, which was such a meaningful way to pause and remember what the day was really about.
After their first look and portraits at the Toledo Museum of Art, we headed to The Toledo Zoo for the rest of their celebration. From the very beginning of the day, Morgan and Mike were fully present, fully joyful, and completely trusting. They soaked in every moment, loved the people around them so well, and made the whole day feel easy in the very best way.
Their Toledo Zoo wedding was such a unique and joyful celebration. After their ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour at the Africa Overlook, where they spent time near the giraffe area and even got to feed the giraffes. It was such a fun experience for their guests and made for some of the most joyful wedding photos. Their reception took place inside the Malawi Event Center, where the ballroom was lined with a beautiful aquarium, adding such a memorable touch to the evening.
One thing that stood out to us all day was the way Morgan carried herself. She was absolutely stunning, inside and out. She looked like a princess, but even more than that, she was kind, thoughtful, joyful, and gracious to every single person around her. She carried such a peaceful, joyful presence throughout the day. She simply trusted the people around her, trusted the plan for the day, and let herself fully enjoy becoming Mike’s wife.
And Mike was right there with her. Steady, kind, funny, and so clearly thrilled to be marrying his best friend.
Later in the evening, we stepped away with Morgan and Mike for sunset portraits on the other side of the zoo. The zoo was closed to the public, and we rode together in a golf cart toward the conservatory and rose garden. It was just the two of them and us, moving through the quiet paths. We laughed, talked, heard more of their stories, and got to spend those few minutes celebrating with them like old friends.
That is one of our favorite things about wedding days. By the time the day arrives, we have walked with our couples through so much more than just photos. From booking, to engagement sessions, to timeline planning, to the wedding day itself, we get the sweetest front-row seat to such meaningful seasons. And with Morgan and Mike, it truly felt like getting to cheer on friends we were so proud of.
