Anticipation. Longing. A feeling of so much love for one person you just can’t hold in the tears. Madeline looked from her first loves, her parents in the front row, to the man she loved most in the world who was standing in front of her, Devon. His smile was wider than the Grand Canyon as he looked at the beautiful woman standing in front of him - still in disbelief that she was going to be his wife. As the words, “Will you take this man…” hit the air, a tear rolled down her cheek and hit the ground soft as a feather. But everyone heard it. With not a dry eye in the room, the sweetest thing happened next. Devon lifted his hand and gently wiped the tears from her eyes, replacing them with the kindest smile on Madeline’s face.

Devon and Madeline have the kind of love that little girls day dream about. The way he looks at her like nothing else matters. The way she leans into him as she talks. The way Madeline noticed when Devon walked out of the room to take a picture with his groomsmen and wanted to follow, just to be close.
Madeline and Devon are full of joy and adventure. When it came time for their husband-and-wife portraits, they didn’t hesitate. It was freezing. cold. But they stepped outside without a second thought. You’d never guess just how chilly it was by looking at their pictures! They trusted us completely. And their love for each other shone through every moment. Devon even told us he typically wasn’t a fan of pictures. But after their engagement session, everything changed. He actually enjoyed the experience. He couldn’t wait to see the photos. Watching them laugh together, even as the cold air nipped at their noses, reminded us why we do what we do.
The special thing about Madeline and Devon is they legally were married in 2023 at a courthouse when Devon found out he was going to be deployed overseas. God had clearly given their love a deepness and appreciation for the other during their time apart that was such an inspiration to see. It was clear his love for her had grown with each passing day since they said ‘I Do’ in that courthouse on November 20, 2023.
Although they were legally married in 2023, they wanted to have an intimate wedding with their closest friends and family to celebrate the love God had given them. During Madeline’s mother’s speech at their reception, she mentioned how each and every person present had a very special place on the hearts of Madeline and Devon. They wouldn’t be who they are today without their impact. Trust us, there wasn’t an untouched heart in the reception hall!
