Some love stories start with a chance meeting, others with a grand romantic gesture—but Ansleigh and Austin’s? It started in second grade when they met at school.
Austin was the new kid, and by fourth grade, he and Ansleigh found themselves competing in the same handwriting contest. She got second place, and he got first—and she laughed as she told us that he still doesn’t let her forget it! It was so sweet to hear her reminisce about their friendship and childhood, knowing that all these little moments led to where they are now.
But their love story didn’t really begin until homecoming of their senior year. A month before, they had gone to a haunted house with friends, and when Ansleigh got scared, she instinctively grabbed Austin’s hand. Looking back, it feels like one of those little moments that was meant to be. A few weeks later, they went to homecoming together, started dating that night, and never looked back.
From the very first Zoom call we had with them, we just knew they were going to be so much fun. And the second we met in person, it felt like we had been friends forever. They’re the kind of people who make you feel at home just by being around them—so kind, so easy to talk to, and always up for a good laugh.
We spent the evening wandering through downtown Nashville, starting at the Tennessee State Capitol and making our way through the city. And every step of the way, they trusted us completely—from every pose to every location, they embraced it all with so much joy.
And Ansleigh? She was glowing. The way she laughed so effortlessly had us all laughing so hard right along with her—like we were swapping stories with old friends. She has such a joyful, lighthearted spirit, and it was so beautiful to see the way she lights up around Austin.
Honestly, this session was extra special for us, too. When we got married, we lived in Nashville for our first year, so coming back always brings back the sweetest memories. It felt so full-circle to be capturing their beginning in a place that meant so much to our beginning!
