From the moment we first met Becca and Jonathan, we knew we just loved these two. The way they laugh together. The way Jonathan looks at her. The way Becca lit up as she talked about their story. It was so easy to see how much joy they bring each other. So when we finally got to meet them in person for their engagement session, it felt like reuniting with old friends.
We met them in Dayton for their Dayton Art Institute engagement session, and right away these two had us smiling. Between all the walking (and stair climbing—we joked it counted as our workout for the day!) and the sweet conversations along the way, we loved every minute of getting to know them better. They’re the kind of people who make you feel comfortable the second you’re around them—genuine, kind, and so much fun to be with.
Their love story made us smile the whole time hearing them tell it. From the very beginning, they’ve made it clear that it was God who brought them together. It’s such a gift to see a couple who not only recognizes His hand in their story, but who is building their relationship on Him from the very start. They matched on Facebook dating on the very same day they both created their accounts, and from their first date, it felt like they had known each other for years. Jonathan even drove two hours just to meet Becca, and by their third date, he was already telling his dad, “I’m going to marry this girl,” while Becca was calling her mom to say, “This is crazy, but I think he’s the one.”
Listening to them talk about long-distance instantly brought us back to our own story. Back when Julia was in school in Nashville and Sean lived about an hour away, we counted down the days until we could finally close that gap. Right before we gave Becca and Jonathan hugs goodbye, we told them they’re going to love being married to their best friend—that getting to share every morning and all the little moments of life together is one of the sweetest gifts.
And their proposal? Straight out of a movie. Jonathan proposed at Rainbow Falls in Gatlinburg, TN, after a long hike through the clouds and a surprise detour that made the adventure even more memorable. With a GoPro set up nearby and the falls rushing behind them, Jonathan dropped to one knee, and Becca’s “yes” was full of tears and joy. She was floating back down the trail with a brand-new fiancé and a memory they’ll treasure forever.
