When we think about Peter and Elaina's story, it's hard not to smile.
Not just because they're getting married. Not just because Peter proposed at the beautiful overlook at Mt. Echo Park where we took these photos. But because we've had the joy of watching this story unfold from the very beginning.
For those who may not know, Elaina is Julia's sister.
We've shared life together for as long as either of us can remember. We grew up side by side, shared countless memories, laughed until we cried, dreamed about the future, and talked about the kind of man we hoped God would bring into our lives someday.
So getting to watch Peter enter the picture and become such an important part of our family's story has been one of the sweetest gifts.
Long before there was a first date, there was friendship. Bible study nights. Game nights. Ping pong matches. Conversations that seemed ordinary at the time but now feel like the beginning of something beautiful.
We still laugh thinking about a Christmas gathering before they were dating. We were all together for a white elephant gift exchange, and Peter was so kind and gracious through the whole thing. It was one of those moments that seemed small at the time, but looking back now, it was a glimpse into the character that makes him who he is.
As the months went on, we watched something begin to change.
We watched Elaina light up whenever Peter's name came up in conversation. We watched her excitement grow. We watched a friendship become something deeper. And because we've had a front-row seat to so much of her life, we noticed every little thing.
The smile that came a little quicker.
The way she talked about him.
The joy that seemed to follow her wherever she went.
There is something incredibly special about watching someone you love fall in love.
Not because everything changes, but because you get to see them become even more themselves.
And then, as we got to know Peter more, it became easy to see why.
He is thoughtful, steady, kind, and loves the Lord deeply. The way he cares for Elaina, encourages her, and pursues her with intention has been such a beautiful thing to witness. From the very beginning, there has been a quiet confidence in the way they fit together—a friendship that naturally grew into something neither of them wanted to imagine life without.
Which is why standing at Mt. Echo Park for their Cincinnati engagement session felt so incredibly full-circle.
With sweeping views overlooking the Ohio River and the Cincinnati skyline, it couldn't have been a more meaningful place to celebrate this season of their lives.
The very place where Peter asked Elaina to be his wife.
The very place where she said yes.
And now the place where we got to capture this season before they become husband and wife.
As photographers, we always say that our favorite photos are the ones that mean something years from now. The ones that bring you right back to a season you never want to forget.
For us, these images will always be a reminder of God's faithfulness.
Of answered prayers.
Of friendship that turned into love.
And of two people who are genuinely better together.
