We could’ve photographed Deana and Dillon all day long. These two were a dream to be with—joyful, down-to-earth, and just plain fun. We spent the afternoon wandering Downtown Dayton with them, chasing light between quiet streets and golden-brick corners. And from the way they laughed together, leaned into each other, and made even quiet moments feel full—you could just feel the depth of their love.
Deana and Dillon’s story started long before this sunny afternoon in the city. They actually met through 4-H when they were teenagers—each from a different county, but their paths kept crossing. Eventually, phone numbers were exchanged, and the rest, as they say, is history.
We asked them when they knew the other was “the one,” and let’s just say... their answers had us all in our feelings.
For Deana, it was a quiet August evening when she was driving to Dillon’s fair. He had visited hers the month before, and she was excited to see him again. On the way there, she found herself hoping—just a little—that maybe, just maybe, he’d surprise her by buying her ticket. Not because she expected it or needed him to, but because it felt like something sweet he might do. What she didn’t know was that he had already done it—long before she even got there. He had figured out a way to pay for her ticket ahead of time, without saying a word.
It was a small thing, but in that moment, it felt like everything. Thoughtful. Intentional. Gentle. And that's when she knew he was the one.
For Dillon, it wasn’t just one moment—it was more of a quiet realization that kept building over time. Just that from the very beginning, talking to Deana felt special. Natural. Like they could keep going forever and never run out of things to say. About four months in, after a weekend where both of their families spent time together, he was driving home when this simple, clear thought crossed his mind out of nowhere: I’m going to marry that girl.
We love stories like that—the ones that grow slowly and steadily, rooted in friendship and trust. The kind where real-life gestures feel more romantic than any movie scene. And now, years later, here they are—counting down to their wedding day, laughing together like they always have, and walking through Downtown Dayton hand in hand like it’s always been home.
Their love for each other is so obvious. But what stands out even more is their love for the Lord. It shows up in how they serve others, how they encourage each other, and how they’re already preparing for a life centered on Him. Whether it’s supporting each other in ministry or turning their wedding day into a chance to point others to Jesus, these two live out their faith in such a beautiful, inspiring way.
Also… Deana’s bright, bubbly personality is everything. She brought out such a fun, playful side of Dillon during their session, and it made photographing them even more of a joy. You can tell they really are best friends—whether they’re watching Anne of Green Gables together or signing up for nine-mile Tough Mudder races (yes, really!), they just love doing life side-by-side.
