From the moment we met Morgan and Mike over Zoom, we just knew they were something special. The way they looked at each other, the way they talked about their families, their faith, and their excitement for marriage—it all felt so genuine and joyful. So getting to meet them in person for their engagement session on Lake Erie in Marblehead, Ohio felt like such a gift.
The entire evening was filled with sunshine, lake breezes, and so much laughter. And we couldn’t help but feel a little extra sentimental, too. Lake Erie holds such a special place in our own story—Julia grew up coming here with her family every summer, and after we got married, it quickly became a treasured spot for us, too. We’ve made so many sweet memories over the years—ferry rides to Put-In-Bay, the cutest little waterfront restaurants, and one very memorable tubing adventure (Sean’s first time!), where we laughed until we couldn’t breathe, held on tight through every wave, and made a memory we still talk about. And this time, we got to bring our little Lyla with us for the first time—which made it all the sweeter.
But back to them—because this engagement session? It was pure magic.
Morgan and Mike’s story began all the way back in middle school—yes, really! And while their official love story didn’t begin until high school, it all started when Morgan jokingly posted about needing a Slurpee. Mike and his friends showed up to deliver one (smooth move, right?), and from that moment on, they were inseparable. Their friendship grew naturally over the years, and now, after seven years of dating, they’re getting ready to begin a brand-new chapter.
Mike proposed during a family vacation in Hilton Head, South Carolina, on the 18th hole of a beautiful golf course with the ocean behind them and a lighthouse in the distance. Morgan was completely surprised—she was convinced he hadn’t even brought the ring!
For their engagement session, we explored the shoreline around the Marblehead Lighthouse, capturing both the natural beauty of Lake Erie and the quiet sweetness between these two. The way Morgan lit up in Mike’s arms as the sun began to dip behind the water was something we’ll never forget. Between the soft breeze, the peaceful waves, and the glow of that golden light, it felt like time slowed down in the best way. Before they headed off to start their date night, we sent them to one of our favorite little local ice cream spots—such a fun way to end the evening.
Morgan and Mike, we’re so thankful for you two. You made this session feel like a dream, and we’re already counting down the days until your wedding. It’s clear how much you love each other—but just as special is how much friendship and faith lay underneath that love. You’re truly best friends, and we feel so honored to be the ones documenting this season of your story.
